Cupwise Nebula programs are made from a sound design perspective. As you might experiment with unusual equipment or systems to create a unique effect, the same type of creative thought goes behind the creation of these tools. The resulting programs can be useful in both the initial sound design/shaping stages, and the later mixing stages of production. You may even discover that a few of them have particular uses which may see them commonly called upon. As with any tool, it is up to the user to find the best application(s).

Tube FM 1

Four table-top tube radios.
Two tube tuners.
Two FM transmitters.
Direct outputs.

In all cases, the signal used to sample the radios was taken from them by a direct electrical connection. This means the speakers were bypassed. This provides the cleanest method of capturing the characteristic behavior of the radio's circuitry. Each radio leaves a unique fingerprint on any audio ran through it, and these 'colors' were captured for use with Nebula.

Tube FM 2

The same radios/tuners were used as with Tube FM 1, but this time their sound was captured with microphones. The overall sound is distinctive, yet each effect is different.

Tube FM 3 - Vintage Reverb

Deep, custom reverbs made using tube radios- to add a vintage touch.

Tube FM 4 - Compression/Distortion

Over 45 unique effects. Some can do nice compression, with subtle or not-so-subtle tone shaping. Others can get downright nasty. Multiple variations/options available for each effect.

Tube FM 1-4 Bundle

Cassette Deck 1+

14 different tapes and the Tascam 122 mkIII. Most effects in this set cut highs starting around 10khz, which gives a nice lo-fi effect, with a slightly gritty mid section. A few are fairly flat almost to 20khz. Others have much more exaggerated hi-frequency roll offs and give you a huge bassy cassette sound!

Cassette Deck 2

16 tapes used with the ADS (aka Braun) C3, which can play/record at double speed. Some effects were sampled in single speed, but most at double. The ones sampled at double speed usually have their frequency response extend up to and past 20khz, giving this set generally more of a 'hi-fi' sound, compared to 'Cassette Deck 1'. Great for enhancement!

Casspressors A

The first part of what will be a series of compression/distortion effects made from cassette decks. Part A used the ADS C3.

Cassetteverb A

The first part of what will be a series of reverbs made using cassette decks to alter their tone. These were all made with the ADS C3.

Color Springs

1 Gibbs spring reverb tank, 14 different variations with distortion.
